The Road Ahead

As we've mentioned before, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) takes effect on 25th May 2018. GDPR replaces the Data Protection Act and applies more stringent requirements on how we gather, store and process data. Furthermore, GDPR provides more rights to those we hold data - customers and website visitors.

To meet the requirements and standards of GDPR, we've updated our Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions and other legal documents. These updated policies, documents and agreements will take effect from the 22nd May 2018. Customer Details & Consent

We have contacted individual customers in the last couple of weeks to confirm details we hold and request consent to store data where applicable. If any customer has a questions about the data we hold, please contact us via the support helpdesk

Improvements to Data Management

We've upgraded our customer portal, MyAccount, to simplify and enable customers to manage their account information, privacy and communication preferences.

At around 14:35 BST today, our AVON and NENE hosting servers abruptly and completely unexpectedly went offline and did not return until around 17:45. This downtime was due to a problem within the data centre and our server provider and was completely out of our control. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

This problem did not affected our Standard Mail, Hosted Exchange or DNS services.

With the affected servers back online, we have checked their services, websites and databases and everything appears to be running normally. If any customer has any problems or questions, please do hesitate to contact us.

Unfortunately, this problem affected our website including our support ticket system. Our apologies to any customers that tried to contact us by support ticket - we couldn't access our website either.

Thames is dead. Long live Avon and Nene.

We have retired our oldest hosting server, Thames, and it with two new servers called Avon and Nene. All websites and services hosted by Thames have been transferred across to the new servers.

This replacement is the first of a series of upgrades we have planned for 2017.

New Hosting Control Panel

As part of the upgrade, we've moved to a new Hosting Control Panel. The new control panel software is more intuitive and reliable than it's predecessor WebsitePanel (which, if we are honest, we didn't particularly get on with either).

From Tuesday 1st March, the UK Registry Nominet will be increasing the prices it charges for all .UK domains by around 50%. Consequently, Calzada Media will reflect this change and our price for .sld.uk domains will be £5.99 + VAT / year. The registrations and renewals under .sld.uk are:

We are pleased to announce that direct .UK registrations (for example mydomain.uk) will remain at their current price of £9.99 + VAT

To take advantage of the current pricing, we encourage all of our customers to renew or register your domain names for upto the maximum of 10 years before the end of February 2016.
