The Road Ahead

For many years we've use Uptime Kuma to power our service service status website, status.calzadamedia.net. It has worked quietly, efficiently and reliably and was amongst the easier third party open source tools we have used in our infrastructure. As tools develop and mature, their direction sometimes diverges from our requirements and it may need to be replaced.

We've reached that point with Uptime Kuma, and we have replaced it with an equivalent tool, Statping-ng. Statping-ng provides the same customer facing service status, albeit with a slightly different interface. The website address, status.calzadamedia.net, has not changed nor has it's isolation - it runs on it's own dedicated server independent of all our servers and systems.

Uptime Kuma is still a fine self-hosted monitoring tool, and we would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for one in the home lab or similar. For our needs, Statping-ng is currently a better fit.

Regular scheduled maintenance to our email services will be taking place later today from around 19:00 BST onwards. Due to the work involved, there may be short periods of service impairment or interruption.

We will be performing routine maintenance and upgrades to our mail services from around 21:00 GMT tonight (25th February 2026). This will - inevitably - result in some service interruption as updates are applied and the relevant services are restarted.

As in previous years, we'll be using the (hopefully) quieter time between Christmas and the New Year to install upgrades and updates.

We've made a few alterations to our Legal Documents and Policies overview and revised our Free Software Licence.

Changes to Legal Documents and Policies page

We've revised the wording of the Legal Documents and Policies overview page to make the language easier to understand and to add a general clarification as to the legal framework we operate under - we are a UK company registered in England and Wales and operate under English Law.

There have not been any alterations to individual Legal Document and Policies.

Free Software Licence

Our Free Software Licence is the licence that applies, unless otherwise stated, to our free software tools and utilities like Cerberus and the Online Support Tools.

We've reworded and condensed the licence to make it easier to understand. The underlying principles remain the same: the software is released "AS IS" and you use it entirely at your own risk.
