Introduction
When using Microsoft Outlook to access our standard mail accounts, not all IMAP folders may automatically be displayed. This may occur if new folders are created or moved by another email client or through Webmail. Unlike may email programs, Outlook does not always automatically update to include changes made to IMAP folders.
This article provides step-by-step guides to subscribing and unsubscribing to IMAP folders in Microsoft Outlook. Although the screenshots were created using Outlook 2007, the steps are nearly the same for Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013.
Subscribe to a folder
1. Under the Mail in the Navigation Pane, right-click on the IMAP account name and select IMAP Folders from the menu
2. The IMAP Folders dialog will appear. Click on Query to retrieve a complete folder list.
3. Outlook will query the mail server for a complete folder list. Once completed, the Folders box will contain a list of all retrieved folders.
Note: Folder names that contain full-stops are sub folders. For example, in the screenshot below, the folder Folder 1 is a sub-folder of Inbox.
4. In the Folders box, click on the folder(s) you wish to subscribe to.
- To select multiple folders, hold down CTRL while clicking on folder names
- To select all folders, click on the first folder name, hold down SHIFT and then scroll down the list and click on the last folder name.
Click on Subscribe to save your selection.
