Introduction

This article explains how to download the web server log files.

Downloading log files

An FTP account is required to download IIS log files. If you have yet to configure an FTP account, see Creating an FTP account.

  1. Connect to your hosting account by FTP
  2. In list of remote folders, open the logs folder
  3. Inside the logs folder there will be another folder called W3SVCN where N is a number. For example: W3SVC5. Open this folder.
  4. Inside the W3SVCN folder there will be the last five days of log files and an archive folder.
    • The archive folder contains compressed versions of your log files. Read more about log archiving and data retention.
  5. To download the log files, download the contents of this folder. Please be aware that log files are often quite large

Additional Information

  • Typically, we only store log files for upto a year.
  • Log files may not be deleted by account holders.
