When registering a .uk domain the information required varies according to the Registrant origin and purpose. This article details what values may be required depending on the Registrant's circumstances and origin.

General Requirements

Postcode

The Postcode of the Registrant contact must be specified if the CountryCode is set to :

  • GB - United Kingdom
  • GG - Guernsey
  • JE - Jersey
  • IM - Isle of Man

Organisational Requirements

When registering a .uk domain, it is necessary to specify the reigstrant type. Depending on the Registrant Type, some additional values may need to be supplied to complete domain registration.

UK Individual (IND)

  • The Name field of the Registrant contact should be set to the real name of the registrant.
  • The Organisation field should be left blank.

UK Industrial/Provident Registered Company (IP)

  • The Organisation of the Registrant contact is required.

UK Limited Company (LTD)

  • The Organisation field should be set to the registered name of the limited company.

UK Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)

  • The Organisation field should be set to the registered name of the partnership.

UK Partnership (PTNR)

  • Enter the names of the partners in the Organisation field. If the partnership consists of more than 3 partners, enter the names of two partners followed by the words "and others".

UK Public Limited Company (PLC)

  • The Organisation field should be set to the registered name.

UK Registered Charity (RCHAR)

  • The Organisation field should be set to the registered name of the charity.
  • The value of Company Number should be the registered charity number

UK School (SCH)

  • The Organisation field should be set to the registered name of the school.
  • The Company Number field should be completed.

UK Sole Trader (STRA)

  • The Name field of the Registrant contact should be set to the real name of the registrant.
  • The value of Trading Name should be the Registrant's trading name.
  • The Organisation field should be left blank.

UK Government Body (GOV)

There are limitations as to who may registered as a UK Government Body.

UK Corporation by Royal Charter (CRC)

No information available.

UK Statutory Body (STAT)

There are limitations as to who may registered as a UK Statutory Body

UK Other (OTHER)

This is an UK body or organisation that does not fit into any other UK classification. For example, clubs, associations etc.)

Foreign Individual (FIND)

  • The Name field of the Registrant contact should be set to the real name of the registrant.
  • The Organisation field should be left blank.

Foreign Corporation (FCORP)

This applies to non-UK corporations and companies.

  • The Organisation field should be set to the registered name of the foreign corporation

Foreign Other (FOTHER)

This option only applies to non-UK body, organisation or individual and should only be selected if the registrant does not fit into any of the above.
